Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is a very historic tradition within the Church.  It is a ministry – a gift of time and talent to serve God in God's house, and members are ministers of the liturgy (ritual of worship).  The ministry involves a dedicated team of individuals who prepare the worship space with the furnishings, appointments, vessels, elements, linens, and paraments used in the liturgy.  This also includes housekeeping and decorating of God’s house – flower arranging, communion ware polishing, washing, ironing vacuuming, dusting, candle maintenance and the like.

The Guild members do this work with respect, sincere devotion, and dignity.  It is a very great privilege to serve God in this way and together the Guild shares the responsibilities of preparation for Holy Communion, Holy Baptism, marriage, burial, confirmation, prayer services, healing rites, other occasional services, and seasons and festivals of the church year.
